Younger generations play important role in Vietnam-Laos relations

Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Dinh Quy highlightedthe significant role of younger generations in promoting traditional relationswith Laos.

In an interview with Vietnam News Agency, Quy said it is necessary to raise theyouth’s awareness of the ties so they understand why both sides need tomaintain and cherish the relations.

The relationship was established by Presidents Ho Chi Minh, Kaysone Phomvihaneand Souphanouvong, and has been nurtured by generations of Vietnamese and Laoleaders and citizens.

Various activities have been held during the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity andFriendship Year 2017 to mark the 40th anniversary of theVietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation and the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties, he noted, adding that they have contributed toeducating the two peoples, particularly youths, about bilateral relations whileencouraging them to preserve and elevate the ties.

On the occasion, he said, both sides have employed various measures to enhancethe ties, including carrying out infrastructure development projects andprioritising education for Lao students in Vietnam.
