Wounded Philippine sailors brought ashore for treatment

The Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) of Region 4 on December 30 brought four Philippine sailors, who were injured while working onboard a foreign vessel to Nha Trang port in the central province of Khanh Hoa for treatment.

Khanh Hoa (VNA) - The Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre(MRCC) of Region 4 on December 30 brought four Philippine sailors, who wereinjured while working onboard a foreign vessel to Nha Trang port in the centralprovince of Khanh Hoa for treatment.

The sailors were wounded on Marshall Islands-flagged White Sharkvessel when it was 154 nautical miles away from Nha Trang city.

The victims have sufferedmultiple injuries in different areas of the bodies. Especially, one of thesailors named Ritche Magbanua, born in 1973, suffered severeinjuries.

The ship’s captain sent an urgent request to transfer the injured crew membersto hospital in Nha Trang for medical treatment.

Upon receiving the request, the MRCC of Region 4 contacted the ship directly toprovide first aid guidance for the wounded. However, as the victims’ conditionworsened, the centre sent vessel SAR27-01 from Nha Trang port to promptly carrythem to the city.

Since September 2018, the MRCC of Region 4 hasrescued eight sailors aboard four foreign vessels who were injured whiletravelling through the international shipping line.-VNA
