Among them are two inter-provincial World Heritage sites: Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago (Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city) and the Complex of Monuments and Landscapes of Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac (Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh provinces and Hai Phong city). Additionally, Vietnam now has its first transboundary World Heritage site: Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park (Quang Tri province) – Hin Nam No National Park (Khammouane province, Laos).

A Vietnamese delegation has stressed the country's commitment to continued contributions to the World Heritage Fund and called for enhanced international cooperation, effective implementation of the World Heritage Convention, experience sharing, capacity building, and community engagement, especially involving women and youth.

UNESCO was founded on November 16, 1945, and Vietnam officially became a member of the organisation in July 1976, marking one of the country’s important steps in the process of global integration.

Vietnam is always an active, trusted partner, and supporter of UNESCO, making substantive contributions as a member of key executive agencies, including the World Heritage Committee, said Party General Secretary To Lam. At a reception for Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the World Heritage Centre under UNESCO in Hanoi on May 20, the Party chief highlighted UNESCO’s role as the “intellectual home of humanity” in promoting multilateralism, maintaining peace and security, and advancing sustainable development in the world.
