Nguyen Van Ha, deputy head of the ministry’s internal political securitydivision, pointed out limitations in child protection, especially in remote, mountainous and ethnic minority-inhabited areas.

The main cause is the inadequate awareness of relevant agencies andorganisations about their role and responsibility for child protection, hesaid, noting that child sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking are becomingcomplex, amidst the dominating influence of fast-growing information technologyand the cyber space.

Nguyen Huu Duc, Deputy Director of Hoa Binh province’s Police Department, highlightedthe increase in child sexual abuse cases, which, he said, requires competentagencies to step up their coordination in preventing and handling these crimes.

Delegates at the workshop focused their discussions on policies and lawstowards children, mechanisms protecting children who are victims of sexualabuse, sexual abuse on cyber space and school violence, among others./.
