Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Nguyen Thien Nhan hasasked the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) to keep improving the efficiencyof its organisation at the grassroots level, and promoting the “FiveNos, Three Cleans” nationwide campaign.
Launched in 2009 by the VWU, the campaign aims to build Vietnamesefamilies with no poverty, no criminal offences and no domestic violence,with no more than two children, no malnutrition, and no childrendropping out of school; and of a clean house, clean kitchen and cleangate, in an effort to build new-style rural areas.
Amid an array of socio-economic difficulties in 2013, the unionlaunched a series of emulation campaigns to mark the nation’s biganniversaries, and concentrated on providing vocational training andgenerating jobs for women to help them get out of poverty, said VWUPresident Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa at the January 7 conference of the VWUCentral Committee in Hanoi .
During theevent, participants heard reports on supporting women in vocationaltraining and encouraging Catholic and ethnic minority women to getinvolved in socio-economic activities, among other issues.
The VFF leader said the front will accompany the union to scrutinisethe effectuation of policies for Vietnamese heroic mothers and martyrsas well as the project on joining hands to take care of and promote therole of the overseas Vietnamese community.
Healso asked the VWU to prepare a quarterly report underlining theaspirations and petitions of women to submit to the front.
