Winners of Microsoft Office contest honoured

Three students winning the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) 2018 in Vietnam were honoured at a ceremony in Hanoi on May 30.

Hanoi (VNA) - Three students winning theMicrosoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) 2018 in Vietnam were honouredat a ceremony in Hanoi on May 30.

Doan Thuc Thanh from the Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in thenorthern province of Nam Dinh earned the first prize at the Microsoft Word 2013category.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Ba Trong Dai from the Hanoi-based Phan Huy Chu High School inHanoi, and Dao Ngoc Anh Thu from the Ho Chi Minh City Banking University werethe winners in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 and Microsoft Excel 2013 categories,respectively.

The trio will present Vietnam to compete in the world final round in Orlando,Florida, the United States on July this year. 

Addressing the event, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU)Central Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan, who is also head of the Steering Committeeof the contest, said the winners would be presented with Creative Youth badges.

Meanwhile, the runners-up and third-prize winners, and teachers who made greatcontributions to training competitors will receive certificates of merit fromthe HCYU Central Committee.

The MOSWC 2018 - the 9th edition heldin Vietnam, drew over 1,000 candidates from nearly 200 universities, collegesand high schools across the country.-VNA

The networks bring together universities, research institutes and domestic and foreign businesses. Members will work closely in training, research, and technology transfer by sharing curricula, improving faculty capacity, providing access to laboratories and research facilities, and jointly implementing science and technology projects.

The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

💃 PM chairs national committee's meeting on semiconductor development

Vietnam has issued many key policies to support semiconductor development, notably the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Other initiatives include the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, and the Human Resources Development Programme for the Semiconductor Industry.
