Winners of the first national press award on children were announced at an ceremony in Hanoi on April 6, honouring journalists and media agencies in all media forms with outstanding contributions in children protection, caring and education in the past one year.

Hanoi (VNA) –Winners of the first national press award on children were announced at anceremony in Hanoi on April 6, honouring journalists and media agencies in allmedia forms with outstanding contributions in children protection, caring andeducation in the past one year.

At the ceremony, theorganization board presented four first prizes, eight second, eight third and16 consolidation prizes with total value of 136 million VND (nearly 6,000 USD).

Launched from June2017 to March 2018 by the Vietnam Association for Protection of Children’sRights (VAPCR), the Vietnam Journalist Association (VJA) and Save of Children,the contest received more than 250 works of 100 authors in four media forms ofprint newspaper, online newspaper, radio and television.

The works carrydifferent messages, reflecting the real conditions of children currently, alongwith outstanding people and activities to help children in difficulties. Many ofthem denounced violations against children such as sex and labour abuse, andchild marriage.

VAPCR Vice PresidentDo Duc Ngo said that media works on children have significant influence on thecommunity, helping increase the public’s voice and engagement in protectingchildren, as well as authorized agencies’ stronger actions in designing and enforcingchildren-related policies.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
