Winners of 18th Devotion Awards announced

Winners of the 18th Cong hien (Devotion) Awards were honoured at a ceremony organised by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s The Thao & Van Hoa (Sports & Culture) newspaper at the Hanoi Opera House on March 27 evening.

Hanoi (VNA) – Winners of the 18th Cong hien (Devotion) Awards were honouredat a ceremony organised by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s The Thao & VanHoa (Sports & Culture) newspaper at the Hanoi Opera House on March 27evening.

Thiswas the second time the annual awards have featured categories relating tosports, in additional to music.

Theaward ceremony saw the attendance of Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports andTourism Hoang Dao Cuong, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang, and representatives from relevant agencies,

Theawards honour outstanding authors, works and programmes in music, and athletesand coaches voted by journalists, said Editor-in-Chief of The Thao & VanHoa Le Xuan Thanh, who is also head of the Organising Board.

Theaward “sports achievement of the year” went to the national women's volleyballteam that has been included in the top four in Asia for the first time.

Sepaktakraw athlete Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, who brought home a gold medal at the 19thAsian Games (ASIAD 19), ending Vietnam's 17 years of title drought in thisrattan ball kicking sport, was honoured as “the young athlete of the year”.

Thetitle of “the sport figure of the year” was given to swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang who secured a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics, two bronze medals at ASIAD 19and three golds and one bronze at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games(SEA Games 32).

Thefirst-ever “aspiration for devotion” title went to the children football centreVietGoal founded and run by Nguyen Hoai Nam.

Formusic, Den (real name Nguyen Duc Cuong) was named as “the male singer of theyear,” while musician Do Bao was honoured for his programme named “Do Bao &Friends/Mot minh bao la”.

Theimpressive devotion award was presented to organisers of the art programme “Danchim Viet” (Flock of Vietnamese Birds) celebrating the 100th birthdayof musician Van Cao.

VanMai Huong won “the album of the year” award; rapper Double2T got two, “the songof the year” and “the new artist of the year”; Hua Kim Tuyen seized “the musicof the year”; DTAP pop band, “the producer of the year” for the third time; and Hoa Minzy, the “singer of the year”./.
