Jakarta (VNA) – Flooding in western Indonesia has left at least 31 dead and 19 others missing while affecting thousands local livelihoods and d🌸amaging houses and🐠 buildings.
According to the National Agency for Disaster Management, most of the victims come from Purworejo, Banjarnegara and Kebumen districts.
The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said that flash floods hit the Jatiroto and Purbowangi villages in Buayan, Kebumen district on June 18.
Search and rescue efforts have been pushed forwards; however, they are hampered by landslides, which blocked traffic in a number of roads.
Earlier, local authorities have put a flood emergency status in place.
