Welcome ceremony for President To Lam held in Vientiane

Vientiane (VNA) – General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith hosted a red-carpet welcome ceremony in Vientiane on July 11 for Vietnamese President To Lam and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation who are paying a state visit to the neighbouring country.
Following the ceremony, the Vietnamese and Lao leaders started their talks to seek measures to make the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries deeper and more effective.
President Lam’s visit is taking place at a time when the Vietnam-Laos great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation are thriving with strong political trust.
Bilateral economic, trade and investment partnership is expanding, with two-way trade reaching over 1.46 billion USD in 2023 and over 620 million USD in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year rise of 10.6%.
Vietnam is investing in 241 projects in Laos with a total capital of about 5.5 billion USD, ranking third among the countries and territories investing there.
That Laos is the first foreign country Lam visits as the state leader of Vietnam shows the special attention and priority Vietnam attaches to it.
The sound traditional relations, close bond, and faithful friendship between the two peoples, initiated by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, have been nurtured and reinforced by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, becoming a shared priceless asset of the two nations and the common rule of development of the two countries.
The two sides elevated their ties from “traditional” to "great traditional” in February 2019, marking a significant historical milestone and creating a new breakthrough in the relations between the two countries.

President To Lam arrived in Vientiane on July 11 morning, beginning a two-day state visit to Laos at the invitation of General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.
The special relationship between Vietnam and Laos is being continuously nurtured by the two Parties, States and peoples. Based on the two nations’ common goals and with a pure internationalism spirit, the relationship is helping both countries’ revolutions gradually overcome challenges and difficulties.
President To Lam’s upcoming State visit to Laos is a vivid demonstration of the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, stated Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh.
Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, along with a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived in Seongnam Air Base in Seoul on August 10 afternoon (local time), beginning a state visit to the Republic of Korea from August 10-13.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 9 inspected the construction site of the new Phong Chau bridge, and surveyed a planned route for the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway section running through the northern province of Phu Tho.

At their talks and meetings, President Cuong and Angola’s top leaders affirmed that the close brotherhood and traditional friendship are a valuable shared asset and a solid foundation for the two nations to advance into a new phase of development.
The ruling People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) attaches great importance to the friendship, solidarity, and comradeship with the Communist Party of Vietnam, and voiced her Party’s wish to further deepen and expand relations between the two sides for the benefit of the Vietnamese and Angolan people.
Vietnam pledges to do its utmost to build an ASEAN of solidarity, consensus, and unity in diversity, and to foster a fast and sustainable development path for ASEAN, grounded in science, technology, and innovation, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Party General Secretary To Lam called on the criminal police force to accelerate the application of science, technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation in criminal investigation tasks such as crime prevention, detection, tracking and verification, ensuring that no area remains out of their reach.
Many Koreans living, studying, and working in Hanoi see the upcoming state visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) by Party General Secretary To Lam as an opportunity to generate strong synergy in economic cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and cultural understanding.
