Water filtration system given to people affected by saltwater intrusion

Ben Tre (VNA)🌊 – Keppel Corporation and Tien Phongnewspaper on March 22 held a ceremony to hand over a water filtration system topeople in Tan Thuy commune, Ba Tri district, the southern province of Ben Tre.
The system worth about 350 million VND (14,000 USD) can produce6,000 litres of clean water a day for domestic use, helping nearly 10,000people in the commune and neighbouring ones to access free fresh water whenthey are affected by severe saltwater intrusion. Previously, theyusually suffered from water shortages or had to buy water for daily use at highcosts. In 2022, the group and the newspaper launched the initiative“Living Well” to provide such systems to areas affectedseverely by harsh drought and saltwater intrusion. So far, five communesin the three provinces of Ben Tre, Tien Giang, and Ca Mau have been given such systems./.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh demanded Ben Tre further tap into its advantages and develop the sea-based economy, while addressing a working session with officials of the Mekong Delta province on February 16.
Saltwater intrusion on the Mekong River is forecast to gradually abate from April 24-30, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
