War veterans meet to mark 40th anniversary of Truong Sa liberation

Over 400 war veterans who used to serve on the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago gathered at a meeting in the central coastal city of Nha Trang on April 24 to mark the 40 th anniversary of the liberation of Truong Sa.

At the meeting, Le Xuan Ba, former ViceChairman of Political Affairs of Naval Zone 4, looked back on themilitary campaign which liberated the archipelago on April 29, 1975,
contributing to the liberation of the entire southern region and reunification of the country. XuanBa, who also once served as Chairman of Truong Sa district People’sCommittee, described the remarkable changes in the islands over the past40 years, particularly the enhanced living standards of both soldiersand civilian communities in the district. Thewar veterans later floated lanterns in Nha Trang Bay to pay tribute tothe fallen soldiers, who sacrificed their lives to protect the nation’sterritorial skies and waters.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
