Vientiane (VNA) ꧂– President of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) Ha Thi Nga met with outstandingfemale overseas Vietnamese in Vientiane on April 3 as part of her working visit to Laos.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos NguyenBa Hung said the Vietnamese community in Laos now count over 100,000, abouthalf of them are women. Each Vietnamese association in Laos has committees andsub-committees on women’s affairs. He added that the Vietnamese and Lao women always stay unitedtogether in the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperationbetween the two countries. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, head of the Vietnamese Association inVientiane’s board for women’s affairs, said the movements of Vietnamese women inLaos have kept spreading, contributing to community activities, including charityand popularisation of Vietnamese culture in the community. She also suggested the VWU allow the establishment of itschapter in Laos. Nga hoped that Vietnamese women in Laoswould become messengers to introduce the Vietnamese culture and people to Laoand international friends in the country, thus contributing to consolidating the great friendship and special loyalty between the two nations. She vowed to work closely with the two countries’ competentagencies to tackle difficulties met by the Vietnamese women in Laos./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
