VUFO vows to work for stronger Vietnam-Laos ties

Hanoi(VNA) – The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), the Vietnam-LaosFriendship Association and its chapters at all levels will continue tryingtheir utmost to nurture the friendship and special solidarity between the twocountries, said a VUFO official.

VUFO SecretaryGeneral and Vice President Don Tuan Phong made the pledge when receiving SomphanPhengkhammy, National Assembly Vice Chairman and President of the Committee forPeace and Solidarity of Laos in Hanoi on August 22.

Phong informed theguest that the VUFO, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and its chaptersat all levels have held various activities to make the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties (September 5) and 40 years sincethe signing of the bilateral Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18).

Soon, theVietnamese side will welcome 40 members of Lao families that had protectedVietnamese soldiers during wartime to attend celebrations.

SomphanPhengkhammy, who is also Chairman of the Laos-Vietnam FriendshipParliamentarian Group, praised the activities held by the VUFO and theVietnam-Laos Friendship Association as well as its chapters at all levels.

The Lao officialexpressed his hope that cooperation between his committee and Vietnam’sorganisations will be deepened, helping consolidate the Vietnam-Laos friendship.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
