VNA wants cooperation with RoK media organisations

Vietnam News Agency (VNA) wishes for further cooperation with media organisations of the Republic of Korea (RoK) to better cater for the two peoples’ demand for information.

VNAGeneral Director Nguyen Duc Loi expressed the hope during a meeting witha delegation from the Journalist Association of Korea (JAK) in Hanoi onAugust 22.

During the meeting, the General Directorbriefed the guests on some general information on the building anddevelopment of the VNA as the mouthpiece of the Vietnamese Governmentover the past 70 years.

He highlighted the fruitfulcooperative ties between the VNA and RoK’s Yonhap News Agency withexchanges of information and high ranking delegations over the last 20years.

At the most recent meeting between the twonew agencies, both sides agreed that they have met the informationdemand in the context of the growing development in Vietnam-RoKrelations.

After the debut of the Vietnam-KoreaTimes - the first Korean language newspaper in Vietnam - in early 2013,the release of VNA’s Tin Tuc daily in the RoK will enhance informationlinks between the two peoples as well as tighten the Vietnam-RoKfriendship and cooperation, he said.

JAK PresidentPark Chong Ryul said the association’s visit aimed to learn aboutVietnam and its people, as well as its achievements in culture,economics, politics and the newspaper industry to introduce to the RoKpeople.

Park spoke highly of VNA’s role and pledgedto pass on its desire for cooperation to local media organisations whenreturning to the RoK.

He expressed his belief thatthe relationship between the JAK and the Vietnam Journalist Association(VJA) will grow in the coming time.

Participants at the meeting also discussed matters of mutual concern, particularly in the field of journalism.

Earlier on August 21, the delegation met with VJA President and Nhan Dan Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Thuan Huu.

The two sides shared the view that the JAK delegation’s visit, whichis in the context of the upcoming visit to Vietnam by RoK President ParkGeun-hye in September, will contribute to consolidating the friendshipbetween the two countries.-VNA
