VNA, ANSA contribute to Vietnam-Italy relations through information bridge

The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the National Associated Press Agency of Italy (ANSA) signed a professional cooperation agreement at a ceremony held online in Hanoi on February 20.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam News Agency(VNA) and the National Associated Press Agency of Italy (ANSA) signed a professionalcooperation agreement at a ceremony held online in Hanoi on February 20.

The document was inked by VNA General Director Vu VietTrang and CEO of ANSA Stefano De Alessandri.

In her remarks, Trang congratulated this newdevelopment step in the cooperation between the two news agencies.

In 2010, leaders of VNA and ANSA signed the firstcooperation agreement, she said, noting that the deal created a platform for thetwo agencies to officially exchange information, introduce potential andstrengths of their respective countries, strengthen the connectivity and exchangebetween people of the two nations, contributing to promoting the ties betweenVietnam and Italy over the past time.

In the context of theworld facing epidemics, natural disasters, conflicts as well as fake news, newsagencies all need to reform and address challenges relating to resources, inorder to be able to respond to fast-evolving information demand, Trangstressed.

Therefore, theenhancement of cooperation between news agencies will help to share commondifficulties, which is also the objective in the VNA-ANSA cooperation agreement,she continued.

“On the basis of theagreed contents, our two agencies will have a firm foundation to betterimplement cooperation activities such as exchanging information, with a focuson multimedia information products; supporting on-duty reporters; or sharingexperience through professional exchange activities and fact-finding tours,”Trang said.

Briefing the participants' on VNA’s operations, she said the agency is stepping upmultimedia information products, and is introducing its information products onall internet platforms.

The agency is alsogradually applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) in information production to reducehuman resources and costs, while creating data journalism products from its abundantarchives built up during nearly eight decades.

VNA has sent its correspondentsto Rome since 2004 with the aim of delivering comprehensive coverage about thesituation in Italy, Vatican and Southern Europe, according to the GeneralDirector.

“We believe thatthrough the information bridge, VNA and ANSA will continue to activelycontribute to promoting the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Italyacross all fields, from politics-diplomacy to economy, science-education,national defence-security, environmental protection and connectivity betweenlocalities,” she said.

Trang also expressed herbelief that the cooperation between the two news agencies will help furthertighten the sentiments and close bonds between Vietnamese and Italian people.

On the basis of thecooperation agreement, the two agencies will organise practical activities tocelebrate the 50th founding anniversary of the diplomatic relations and the 10thanniversary of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Italy this year,she said.

For his part, Alessandrisaid established in 1945, ANSA is the biggest news agency in Italy, whichproduces more than 3,700 pieces of news in six languages daily and in diverseforms.

ANSA has sent 500 correspondentsto more than 80 countries worldwide, he added.

Alessandri noted hisdelight at the signing of the cooperation agreement given the spread of fakenews, and affirmed that the document will create a foundation for the expansionof collaboration in trade, technology and AI and blockchain applicationsbetween the two news agencies.

The agreement will alsoactively contribute to promoting the relations between the two countries, he stressed./.
