VN-Russia Tropical Centre furthers int’l ties

The Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre (VRTC) will broaden its scientific and technological cooperation with other countries, including ASEAN countries.
The Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre (VRTC) will broaden its scientificand technological cooperation with other countries, including ASEANcountries.

This was agreed by the Coordinating Committee for the VRTC at its 23 rdmeeting in Moscow on Nov. 26 to review the VRTC’s performance in2010.

At the meeting, the committee made decisions relating tothe perfection of management methods and measures for the VRTC anddiscussed themes for new joint research and research with high potentialfor application in real life.

It agreed to build a new researchstation and new ecological centres in the Bi Dup-Nui Ba and Bu Gia Mapnational parks in Vietnam and strengthen material and technologicalfacilities of the VRTC.

The committee accepted the VRTC DirectorsBoard reports on the use of the centre fund in 2010 and theestablishment of the Vietnam-Russia Science and Production JointVenture.

The committee’s co-presidents – Senior LieutenantGeneral Nguyen Huy Hieu and Academician Dmitry Pavlop confirmed theopening of a VRTC Vietnamese representative office in Moscow .

The VRTC coordinating committee will hold its 24 th meeting in Hanoi in November 2011.

The Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre was established in 1988 by theVietnamese Ministry of Defence and the Russian Academy ofSciences.

A scientific research organisation, it focuses on tropical biology, medicines, and environmental pollution and treatments./.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
