VN, DPRK boost trade union cooperation

Vietnam and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) have agreed to further the friendship between their trade unions.

The agreement was reached during talks between the Permanent VicePresident of Vietnam ’s General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) NguyenHoa Binh and the Vice President of the General Federation of Trade Unionof Korea (GFTUK), Han U Phal, in Hanoi on July 2.

They agreed to boost cooperation in research and training as well as exchanging information and personnel.

During their talks, Binh stressed that along with the time-honouredVietnam-DPRK friendship, cooperation between the VGCL and the GFTUK hasbeen continuously maintained and developed.

Hesaid that Vietnam ’s workforce now numbers 46.6 million, includingmore than 13 million in paid employment. Trade union members in thecountry now number over 7.5 million.

The GFTUKofficial praised the achievements that Vietnam has recorded on thepath to building a socialist State during the process ofindustrialisation and modernisation.

He added that the DPRK will continue to foster its traditional friendship and solidarity with Vietnam.-VNA
