Vinh Phuc province promotes foreign aid

The northern province of Vinh Phuc will create optimal conditions for foreign non-governmental organisations (NGOs), businesses and individuals to support its disadvantaged localities and needy people.

Vinh Phuc (VNA) –♓ Thenorthern province of Vinh Phuc will create optimal conditions for foreignnon-governmental organisations (NGOs), businesses and individuals to support itsdisadvantaged localities and needy people.

Vice Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Le Duy Thanh made the pledge at a conference on foreign aidpromotion hosted by the committee on August 22.

According to Thanh, to raise theefficiency of foreign aid mobilisation, local authorities have devised plansand policies to facilitate NGOs’ projects in the province.

෴ Vinh Phuc has also enhanced monitoring and regular assessments to ensure assistanceefficiency, while working with other localities in aid mobilisation and management,he added.

At the conference, sponsors vowed toprovide more than 1.4 million USD for NGO projects to be carried out in thelocality in 2019. A total 13 NGOs from many countries areoperating in the province, including those from the US, the Republic of Korea,France, Japan, the UK and India. The organisations have launchedprojects with total assistance exceeding 720,000 USD, mostly in social issues,urgent aid, capacity development and improvement, microfinance andenvironmental protection. Major projects include one to offer prosthetic legsto disabled people and another to support Agent Orange/dioxin victims. In the first seven months of 2018,three more organisations conducted research for their development plans in theprovince, while six new projects are awaiting approval. They include projectsin sustainable agricultural value chain development for small-sized farmer households,support for senior citizens and healthcare solutions.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
