Viettel signs contracts with Brazilian footballers

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - V.League 1 side Viettel have signed three-year contractswith two Brazilian footballers to prepare for the upcoming season.

Viettel,who won the National First Division Tournament and were promoted to V.League 1,inked a contract with midfielder Gustavo Santos.

Santos, 23, began his professional football career in 2013. He played for fourclubs in Brazil including Sao Paulo. He played 77 matches and scored fourgoals.

Standing tall at 1.95m, Santos is expected to help Viettel shine in the league.

In addition to Santos, Viettel also bought midfielder Kayo Dias to strengthentheir defence.

Dias is 28 years old. He began his professional career in 2012 and scored ninegoals and had nine assists during 75 matches for four clubs in Brazil.

Viettel also recruited midfielder Que Ngoc Hai of Song Lam Nghe An, who is nowcaptain of the national senior team competing in the ongoing Asian Cup; andmidfielder Vu Minh Tuan from FLC Thanh Hoa.

“At present, Viettel haven’t finalised our list of players. We still have timeto seek talents for the new season,” said coach Nguyen Hai Bien.

V.League 1 will kick off on February 23 at My Dinh Stadium. The league willinclude matches between 14 teams ending in October. Clubs are allowed to signthree foreigners and one Vietnamese player born outside Vietnam.-VNS/VNA
