Vietnam’s parliament leader meets with Hungarian President

Budapest (VNA) – National Assembly ChairwomanNguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with Hungarian President Janos Ader on April 10 as partof her official visit to the European nation.
The visiting legislator highlighted thecountries’ 67-year friendship, noting that the Vietnamese Party, State andpeople appreciate Hungary’s assistance throughout history.
She thanked Hungary for supporting Vietnam’scandidacy for membership of the United Nations Economic and Social Council for2016-2018 and for a seat on the UN Security Council for 2020-2021.
Vietnam promises to support Hungary’s candidacyto the UN Human Rights Council for 2017-2019, she said, asking both sides tocontinue mutual support at multilateral forums and international organisations.
She applauded Hungary’s policy of promotingeconomic ties with Vietnam, including the signing of a framework agreement oncredit cooperation worth 440 million EUR. She urged Hungary to soon implementthis deal.
Lauding Hungary’s foreign direct investmentprojects and readiness to provide official development assistance (ODA) forVietnam, Chairwoman Ngan said projects funded through its ODA were important toVietnam’s development.
She also thanked the country for providingfavourable conditions for Vietnamese people to integrate into Hungary. She alsoasked for the teaching of Vietnamese to be facilitated in the country.
For his part, President Janos Ader praised therole of the Vietnamese community in Hungary and former students. He expressedhis hope that they will continue to bolster bilateral relations.
The two countries signed cooperation documentsduring Ader’s State visit to Vietnam in 2014. He said they should learn fromexperience during agreement implementation to better realise those deals.
Hungary is also ready to cooperate with Vietnamin clean water supply, wastewater treatment and water resources protection,areas in which Hungary has experience.-VNA
