Vietnam’s export tunover surges 7.4 percent in 10 months

Vietnam’s export turnover in the last 10 months yearly increased 7.4 percent year-on-year to over 217 billion USD, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s export turnover inthe last 10 months yearly increased 7.4 percent year-on-year to over 217billion USD, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

Statistics show that 30.7 percent of theexport turnover was contributed by the domestic economic sector, and the rest by theforeign-invested sector.

The domestic economic sector’s export turnover reached 66.63billion USD in the period, up 16.2 percent. Meanwhile, the foreign-investedsector reported an increase of 3.9 percent in export, hitting 150.42 billionUSD.

Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of theImport and Export Department under the MoIT, said the industry and processing sector wasthe biggest contributor to the nation’s export turnover in the reviewed period.Its export value hit 182.93 billion USD, up 9.4 percent year-on-year, accountingto 84.3 percent of the total export turnover.

The US remained Vietnam’s largest importer, followed by the European Union,China, ASEAN, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

In the period, Vietnam imported goods worth 210.004 billion USD, up 7.4 percentagainst the same period last year.

The country completed 82.5 percent ofthe goal of export turnover set for the year.

Notably, Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus of 7.05 billion USD, higher than the6.83 billion USD of 2018./.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
