Vietnamese team off to 12th ASEAN Skills Competition

Vietnam will take part in the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) in Thailand from August 26 to September 5.

– Vietnam will take partin the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) in Thailand from August 26 toSeptember 5.

The Directorate of Vocational Education andTraining under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs saw off theVietnamese delegation in Hanoi on August 23.

The event features 337 competitors from the 10ASEAN member countries.

It includes 26 occupations grouped into sixcategories, consisting of industrial technology, web design and communications,fashion and creative industries, transportation and logistics, construction andbuildings, and personal and social services. 

Fifty-two Vietnamese competitors selected from anational skill contest will show their talents in the regional round.

The ASC showcases ASEAN’s top young talents invarious fields and encourages participating countries to develop motivated andhigh-performing skilled workers. It also serves as a platform for collaborationwithin the skills community in ASEAN as the region strives to enhance technicaland vocational education and training.

Last year, Vietnam claimed third place at the11th ASC with 10 gold, five silver and four bronze medals, finishing behindMalaysia and Indonesia.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
