Vietnamese students in Laos receive scholarships from Vietnam Government

The Embassy of Vietnam in Laos held a ceremony in Laos’s capital Vientiane on September 29 to present scholarships of the Vietnamese Government to 40 overseas Vietnamese students in the country.

Vientiane (VNA)– The Embassy of Vietnam in Laos held a ceremony in Laos’s capital Vientiane onSeptember 29 to present scholarships of the Vietnamese Government to 40overseas Vietnamese students in the country.

Thescholarships was part of an agreement on education and training cooperationbetween the two Governments and a cooperation plan on education and humanresources development between Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training andLaos’s Ministry of Education and Sports. 

Congratulatingthe scholarship recipients, chargé d’affairesof the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos Nguyen Thanh Tung saidthe scholarships demonstrate the Vietnamese Party, State and people’s attentionto overseas Vietnamese in Laos. 

NguyenVan Mui, Vice Chairman of the General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos,described the scholarships as valuable material and spiritual gifts to thestudents that help encourage the development of the Vietnamese community, whichis a friendship bridge linking the two nations.

The number ofthe Vietnamese Government’s scholarships for children of overseas Vietnamese inLaos has increased from five in 2005 to 40 at present.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
