Vietnamese students get Samsung Korean Scholarships

As many as 117 outstanding third-year and fourth-year students from six universities in Hanoi, Hue, Da Nang, and Da Lat cities will receive Samsung Korean Scholarships.

ꦚ – As many as 117 outstandingthird-year and fourth-year students from six universities in Hanoi, Hue, DaNang, and Da Lat cities will receive Samsung Korean Scholarships funded bySamsung Electronics Vietnam Co. Ltd.

The scholarships worth almost 6 billion VND (over264,000 USD) were announced at a programme launched on October 26 to develop Koreanlanguage skills at the targeted universities.
Samsung and the six universities will also sign amemorandum of understanding on improving Korean language training covering threemajor activities: granting scholarships, financing universities’ developmentfunds, and internship programmes for students. Samsung Electronics Vietnam plans to run theprogramme annually.
With nearly 6,000 valid projects worth 50.98billion USD, the Republic of Korea is taking the lead among 116 countries andterritories investing in Vietnam. In the first nine months of 2017, the country’sinvestment reached 6.31 billion USD, accounting for 24.7 percent of totalforeign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam in the period.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
