Co-organised by the associations ofVietnamese expatriates and students, the event displayed hundreds of photos anddocuments on the history of Vietnam’s sea and islands as well as the country’ssovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

It introduced visitors to the maritimepotential of the Southeast Asian country, which boasts more than 3,000 islandsand a coastline spanning over 3,260 km.

Speakers of the event noted that China’sillegal construction and militarisation of artificial islands in the East Sea notonly have negatively impacted security and safety of navigation and overflightin the region but also have hindered Vietnam from tapping its sea and islandtourism potential.

A number of presented studies requestedChina to restrain from such activities and respect international law.
