Vietnamese ranks 50th in the world athletics rankings

Hanoi (VNA) -
Vietnamese track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Huyenhas been ranked 50th in the world rankings of the women’s 400m hurdle category.

Huyen gained the achievement after clocking a time of 56.06secs at theSoutheast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia in August.

Defending Asian champion Huyen is the only representative of the SoutheastAsian region named in the 400m hurdle category since early this year bythe International Association of Athletics Federation.

Zurian Hechavarria of Cuba and Xia Xiao of China ranked above Huyen as they hadthe same result of 56.02secs.

In the women’s 400m event, Huyen ranked 138th with the time of 52.48secs.

In the women’s 4x100m relay, the Vietnamese team (Le Tu Chinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen,Tran Thi Yen Hoa and Do Thi Quyen) were 52nd with the time of 43.88secs.

For the first time, Bui Van Dong was listed in the world rankings in the men’slong jump. He ranked 138th with a jump of 7.83m set at the SEA Games inMalaysia. This result also helped him take a gold medal and break the nationalrecord.-VNA
