ဣ – Thecustoms of Nepal has issued a "NoObjection Certificate" (NOC) allowing Vietnameseexporters' peppercorn containers that have been stuck in the country forseveral months to return home, according to the Asia-Africa Market Departmentunder the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

The issuance of the NOCwas the result of joint efforts of the MoIT, the Vietnamese Embassy inIndia, and the Vietnamese Trade Office in India and Nepal in working with local authoritiesto deal with the case.

The 58 containers exported by 13 Vietnamesebusinesses are worth some 3 million USD and have been stuck in Nepal for abouttwo months.
Peppercorn is one of five items the Nepalese Governmentrecently imposed import ban on. Though these batches had been shipped to Nepalprior to the ban taking effect, they have still not been handled.
♌ Shortly after receiving a notification from the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA), Ministerof Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh sent two letters to the Nepalese Minister ofIndustry, Commerce and Supplies to request support for the Vietnamesebusinesses and ask for the fleeing of the containers and the speeding up of clearanceprocedures, avoiding increase of cost for exporters.

So far, the majority of the containers havereceived NOC. Vietnamese exporters are working withlogistics companies to bring back the containers and export them to othermarkets./.
