Vietnamese people in Japan’s quake-hit regions safely evacuated

A mission from the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan took 41 Vietnamese people and a German from Sendai city, Miyagi prefecture, one of the hardest quake-hit regions in Japan, to Tokyo, on March 16.

All the 42 people were given shelter at a pagoda in Tokyo.

Another team which had gone to Morioka city of Iwate prefecture areexpected to come back to Tokyo on the night of March 16 togetherwith 23 evacuees, mostly students and trainees.

The thirdmission has picked up 18 Vietnamese people in Fukushima prefectureand is making efforts to contact other Vietnamese students and traineesthere to evacuate them from the quake-hit region.

As of March16, the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines has used large-sizeaircraft, Boeing 777, on Narita-Hanoi and Narita-Ho Chi Minh Cityroutes to bring Vietnamese people in Japan home.

The Vietnam Red Cross Society on March 16 received 10,000 USD donated bythe Vietnam Post and Telecom Group (VNPT) and the Vietnam Post TradeUnion to support Japanese victims of the March 11 serious earthquake andtsunami./.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
