Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman meets top Lao leader

Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the VietnameseNational Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue on June 28 hosted a reception for visiting General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.
Both host and guest shared the view that ThonglounSisoulith’s current visit to Vietnam vividly demonstrates the great friendship, specialsolidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
It also manifests their close-knit, faithful andtrusting ties, the leaders said, adding that the visit is significant as ittakes place after the two countries successfully organised major politicalevents such as the National Party Congresses and the elections of deputies to thelegislatures and all-level People’s Councils.
Hue said the Vietnamese leaders and people always keepa close watch on the situation in Laos, and Vietnam highly valued theneighbouring country’s measures to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The top legislator expressed his belief that with internationalsupport and its efforts, Laos will soon contain the pandemic, and continue to implement the resolution adopted at the 11th National Congress of the LPRP.
Hue briefed Thongloun Sisoulith on the recent online talkswith his Lao counterpart, during which the two sides compared notes on measuresto boost cooperation between the two countries and the legislative bodies,making it match the Vietnam - Laos great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensivecooperation.
Thongloun Sisoulith agreed on the need for the two legislaturesto increase high-level visits and meetings, and intensify collaboration andexchange of experience, especially in institution building, law making, and supremesupervision over the operation of State agencies.
He said the new NA building of Laos, a valuable giftpresented by Vietnam, has been put into used to serve the first session of the 9th legislature, stressing that the Lao people are proud of the gift.
The Lao leader conveyed NAChairman Saysomphone Phomvihane's invitation to NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to visit Laos.Hue accepted the invitation with pleasure, saying the visit will bemade when conditions permit and extended his greetings to NA Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane and other Party and State leaders of Laos./.
The special Vietnam - Laos friendship has been growing unceasingly across the board in the recent past, including in trade, which has been developing in an increasingly substantive manner.
