Ho Chi Minh City and the Italian city of Turin have signed a cooperation agreement, which is expected to lay a foundation for the two localities to boost their links in the coming time.

This is the 41st cooperation pact HCM City has inked with localities from countries worldwide, Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan told Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Italy on September 9.

Under the document, the two sides will maintain their regular leader-level dialogues and facilitate information and experience exchanges, thus promoting cooperation in potential fields, such as trade, investment, science-technology, education-training, culture and tourism.

He said he hopes the agreement would bring a breakthrough in cooperation between the two cities, contributing to realising the strategic partnership reached by leaders of both countries in 2013.

On this occasion, Quan met with Turin Mayor Piero Fassino. Chairman Quan shared that he is pleased to visit Turin, the city which has similarities in history, culture and economy with HCM City, considering this a good chance for the two sides to bolster connection for prosperity of the two localities.

Mayor Piero Fassino expressed his belief that the newly-signed agreement would help further promote cooperation between the two cities.

🅘 He also hailed Vietnam as a strongly rising country in Asia, affirming that his city attaches importance to enhancing ties with the Vietnamese locality.-VNA
