Berlin(VNA) ▨– Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Germany on August 25 raised more than 5,000 EUR (roughly 5,600 USD) to support people in mountainous and island areas in their homeland.

The fundraising took place at a meeting between organisations and associations of OVs in Germany, and a delegation of the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and the “For beloved Hoang Sa-Truong Sa” club led by former Vice President Truong My Hoa, who heads both the fund and the club.
Addressing the event, Hoa informed the OVs about activities of the fund which is exclusively set up for ethnic minority students, while the club aims to help children of soldiers and residents in islands areas. The former Vice President told the audiences about the difficulties faced by ethnic minority and island students.
Chargé d’Affaires of the Vietnamese Embassy Nguyen Viet Cuong reassured that the embassy will continue to connect the OV community in Germany with the fund and the club. Germany is the last stop of the delegation’s tour of seven European countries from August 2-29 to introduce the operation of the scholarship fund and the club.-VNA
