Vietnamese Government supports cooperation with Lao institute

Vietnam's Government is ready to provide favourable conditions for Laos’s National Economic Research Institute to effectively cooperate with its Vietnamese partners, Deputy Vuong Dinh Hue has said.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Government is readyto provide the best possible conditions for Laos’s National Economic ResearchInstitute (NERI) to effectively cooperate with its Vietnamese partners, DeputyPrime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has said.

He made the statement while meeting with NERIDirector Bouasone Bouphavanh, who is also former Prime Minister of Laos, inHanoi on December 8.

He expressed his delight at the cooperationbetween NERI and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) in researchingand consulting their respective Parties and States about economic guidelinesand policies.

Hue hoped they will work harder to contribute tothe countries’ relations, as in line with the spirit of the Vietnam-Laos jointstatement issued on the occasion of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’sofficial visit to Laos last November.

NERI and VASS should increase researchcooperation to consult their Governments about policies to connect the twoeconomies, reform the structure of trade goods, boost bilateral trade revenue,and capitalise upon each country’s advantages to help each other developsustainably, he said.

Stressing huge cooperation potential, especiallyin economy, the Deputy Prime Minister asked both sides press on with studyingpolicies on investment attraction, land, taxation, infrastructure connection,and human resources development.

Bouasone Bouphavanh, who is on a working visitto Vietnam, noted NERI is a newly-founded agency that researches and consultsthe Lao Party and State about socio-economic development policies.

The institute is working with VASS to shareexperience in making socio-economic development policies, he added, hoping for moreassistance from the Vietnamese Government to their collaboration./.
