Jakarta (VNA) – Vietnamese flag was hoisted at Kemayoran athletevillage in Jakarta capital of Indonesia at a ceremony on August 16 within theframework of the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD 18).
The flag-hoisting ceremony aimed to welcome sportdelegations from Asian nations and territories to the Games which will takeplace from August 18 to September 2.
Welcoming the participating delegations, Yuni Kartika who isin charge of the athlete village, affirmed that ASIAD is to show solidarity andcooperation of Asian countries and territories.
The ASIAD 2018 will be officially held in the two majorIndonesian cities – Jakarta and Palembang, with the participation of 15,000athletes and coaches from 45 countries and territories competing in 40 sports.
The Vietnamese delegation will consist of 523 people,including 352 athletes. They aim to snatch at least three gold medals.
At the previous ASIAD in 2014, Vietnam won one gold, 10silver and 25 bronze medals, ranking 21st in the overall medal tally.-VNA
