Seven prize-winning feature films of Vietnam are being screened inBuenos Aires, Argentina during a Vietnamese Film Week that kicked off onSeptember 11.
The event is part of a wide range of activitiesto mark the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the twocountries.
The films include Vietnamese classics such as “Canhdong hoang” (The wild rice field) directed by Hong Sen; “Con chim vanhkhuyen” (Passerine bird) by Nguyen Van Thong and Tran Vu; “Em be Ha Noi”( Hanoi little girl) by Hai Ninh and “Bao gio cho den thang Muoi”(When will October come) by Dang Nhat Minh.
The three otherworks presented this time are more recent, which are “Dung dot” (Don’tburn) and “Thuong nho dong que” (Missing the countryside) by Dang NhatMinh; and “Chuyen cua Pao” (Pao’s story) by Ngo Quang Hai.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to ArgentinaNguyen Van Dao briefed participants on Vietnam ’s revolutionarycinematography, while highlighting its contributions to the country’snational defence and film industry.
Argentinean Minister ofCulture Jorge Coscia praised Vietnamese people’s heroic struggle againstinvaders, stressing that the event is an opportunity to understand moreabout Vietnam , its country and people.
A concert, photo exhibition, traditional fashion show and talks about Vietnam are also organised as part of the event.
An Argentinean Cultural Week is scheduled to be held in Vietnam in November.-VNA
