Vietnamese diplomatic sector's 77th anniversary marked in Geneva
The Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and other international organisations in Geneva, Switzerland, hosted a ceremony on August 29 to celebrate the 77th founding anniversary of the diplomatic sector (August 28, 1945-2022).

Geneva (VNA) - The Permanent Mission of Vietnamto the UN, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and other internationalorganisations in Geneva, Switzerland, hosted a ceremony on August 29 to celebrate the 77th founding anniversary of the diplomatic sector(August 28, 1945-2022).
Addressing the event, Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai affirmed that under the leadership of the Partyand President Ho Chi Minh, generations of diplomats have constantlycontributed to the cause of national liberation, construction, defence, anddevelopment, as well as to enhancing Vietnam's position in the internationalarena.
She said the operations of the permanent mission have beenstrengthening the nation’s foreign affairs at the centre of multilateral externalrelations, and asserting a fact that Vietnam is a responsible member of theinternational community.
So far, Vietnam has set up diplomatic ties with 190countries around the world, including strategic partnership and comprehensivepartnership with 30 nations, according to the diplomat.
Meanwhile, the country has established economic relations with more than 230 countries and territories, and signed 15 freetrade agreements (FTA), including new-generation FTAs. It has also been anactive member of more than 70 important multilateral organisations and forums.
Mai requested the mission to make further contributions tomultilateral and bilateral diplomacy and improve its affairs regarding theVietnamese communities overseas.

The diplomatic sector has successfully completed its tasks, while significantly contributing to the COVID-19 fight, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said in his recent article on the occasion of New Year 2022.
The important achievements in external affairs last year affirmed the clear-sighted foreign policy of the Party and State, the support and consensus of the entire political system and people, and the close coordination among all-level authorities and sectors.
State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the diplomatic sector for its great contributions to national construction and defence during a meeting on August 23 with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the sector (August 28, 1945-2022).
Over the past 77 years, under the leadership of the Party, the diplomatic sector has continuously developed in a comprehensive and strong manner, making important contributions to the national revolution, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has stated.
As part of the ASEAN Day celebrations, the Vietnamese embassy will also host the ASEAN Family Day 2025 in Ottawa to foster solidarity and community spirit among ASEAN members in Canada.
State President Luong Cuong’s trip once again reaffirmed the Party and State’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralisation of relations. It also reflected the strong trend of enhanced cooperation among countries of the Global South in shaping a new, more multipolar, fair and equitable world order.
The outcomes of Party General Secretary To Lam's visit will serve as a driving force and source of inspiration for the two countries to inherit, promote, and elevate their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, contributing to the national construction and development cause in each country, and to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
