Vietnamese designer Tu selected for Asian fashion contest

Nguyen Hoang Tu of Vietnam has been chosen as one of 12 finalists in theregional Asian fashion design contest – Audi Star Creation (ASC) –judges have announced.

The contest attracted 418 candidates from 14 countries and territories in Asia.

Tu,along with the final contestants from Singapore, the Republic of Korea,Japan, China, Indonesia and Malaysia, will compete in a Runway Showdownfinal round at Tent@Orchard, Singapore on May 12.

Tu'scollection, named The New Asia, features the strong development of Asiafrom agriculture, industry, services, entertainment and, particularly,fashion.

With bold cut-outs and 3D design techniques on silk andwool materials, Tu said he would like the designs to illustrate theliberal and out-of-the-ordinary tastes of the Asian people.

VicePresident of Singapore Textile and Fashion Federation David Wang saidcontestants design fashions with inspiration from architecture, culture,history, social trends and even religions from their own countries.

Three winners of the contest will receive 8,000 USD each and a one-year training course by the fashion retailer FJ Benjamin.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
