Vietnam’s two leading billiards players are competing in the World Championship in Viersen, Germany on February 22-25.

Hanoi (VNA) –Vietnam’s two leading billiards players are competing in the World Championshipin Viersen, Germany on February 22-25.

Representing Vietnam are world No 10 Nguyen Quoc Nguyen and world No 16 TranQuyet Chien.

The tournament will attract the participation of 16 strong billiard nations,such as South Korea, Turkey, the Netherlands, Greece, Denmark, Belgium andFrance.

“We are eager to take part in the tournament. We aren’t afraid of facing anyrivals. We will try our best in each game,” said Nguyen.

“We have to be very good to reach the final rounds. Self-confidence is veryimportant. We look forward to joining the party in Viersen,’’ Nguyen added.

Billiards player Chien was also confident, saying, “During Vietnam’s Lunar NewYear we trained and coordinated with each other very well. We hope that we willhave a good start this year”.

Vietnam are in Group C, alongside the Republic of Korea, Denmark and Greece.Vietnam will first meet the RoK with two strong players: world No 12 ChoiSung-won and world No 17 Kang Dong-koong.

The winners will walk away with a prize of 9,800 USD, while runners-up willreceive 7,400 USD, and third and fourth place winners will be awarded a bonusof 4,400 USD.-VNA
