– Ho Quang Loi, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists’Association (VJA), held talks with President of the Cuban Association of Journalists(UPEC) Ricardo Ronquillo Bello in Havana on September 9, during which theyexchanged experience in press development in the new time.

Atthe meeting, Loi suggested the two associations expand their cooperation and exchangelecturers and students of their vocational training centres.

He spoke of Vietnam’s experience in implementing the 2016 Law on Press, withamendments matching the new situation, and regulations on professional ethicsof journalists.

Loi briefed his hosts of the development of the media sector in Vietnam andpresented methods to adapt to the era of blooming information and improve journalisticskills.

For his part, Ricardo touched upon new technologies used in the press circle inCuba and the transformation of Cuba’s media and the UPEC in particular in thenew circumstances.

On this occasion, the UPEC opened a photo exhibition on late President Ho ChiMinh, displaying works by press agencies of the two countries, including manythat have never been released before.

Loi described the works as invaluable heritage of Vietnam and Cuba, and the twoassociations.

During the stay in Cuba, the VJA delegation is scheduled to meet officials fromthe Communist Party of Cuba and visit some key media agencies and presstraining institutions in the country.-VNA
