Vietnamese, Cambodian news agencies look to boost ties

PhnomPenh (VNA) –
The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) pledges to support Cambodia’s news agency Agence Kampuchea Presse(AKP) and other agencies of the Cambodian Ministry of Information in personneltraining, said VNA Deputy General Director Le Quoc Minh on December 12.

In a meeting with Cambodian Information Minister Khieu Kanharith in Phnom Penhduring his working visit to Cambodia from December 11-14, Minh said trainingprogrammes will focus on designing, producing news on mobile devices, electronicnewspapers and data press.

He expressed his hope that the Cambodian government and ministry will continueto support the two news agencies to expand their cooperation, and facilitatethe operation of the VNA’s office in Cambodia.

Kanharith spoke highly of the effective cooperation between the VNA and the AKPin recent times, saying he hopes Cambodia’s press agencies will have more articleson Vietnam’s land and people.

The radio Voice Cambodia is running a 10-minute daily news broadcast in the Vietnameselanguage, and this is planned to increase to 30 minutes in the coming time, hesaid.  

Kanharith called on the VNA to help Cambodia improve the quality of printpublications, especially the quality of images on the magazine of the CambodianMinistry of Information, thus promoting the country’s image to internationalfriends, especially when Cambodia hosts the SEA Games in 2023.

Earlier, Minh held talks with AKP General Director Sok Mom Nimul, duringwhich he affirmed that the VNA will continue to collect and provide file photosfor AKP, especially those related to the initial development of the Cambodia’snews agency after 1979.

The VNA official appreciated Nimul’s idea for training cooperationand professional exchange between the two agencies.

After theirtalks, the two sides signed a document which will serve as a foundation forimplementing VNA - AKP cooperation programmes in the future.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
