Vietnam wins medals at int’l biology contest

Four Vietnamese students have won a silver and three bronzes at the 25th International Biology Olympiad which took place in Bali, Indonesia from July 5-13 with the participation of over 200 students.

Le Thi Nguyen Hang from central Da Nang city bagged the silver, whilePham Minh Duc, Tran Le Quoc Khanh and Dao Trong Doanh from northern NamDinh province, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong port city, respectively,earned bronzes.

Last year, Vietnam won four bronze medals.

The country will host the 27th International Biology Olympiad in2016, according to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen VinhHien.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
