Vietnam wins four certificates at World Skills Calgary

Vietnam has won four Certificates of Excellence at the 40th World Skills Competition held in Calgary, Canada.

The Vietnamese winners were Chu Tien Dung with 520 points ininformation technology/software applications skill, Hoang Duc Long with518 points in electronics, Le Minh Bang and Nguyen Van Hoa with 514points in mechatronics, and Dao Duy Khanh with 513 points in cooking.

Vietnam also competed in web design, electrical installations, joinery,restaurant service, and refrigeration at the World Skills Calgary 2009.

During the four-day competition that ended on Sept. 6, the Republic ofKorea (RoK) competitors took the lead with 11 golds, five silvers andsix bronzes, followed by Japan with six golds, three silvers and fourbronzes.

The competition drew more than 900 contestants from 51 countries andterritories competing in 45 skills. The 41st contest will be held inLondon, the UK  in 2011.

Vietnam took only one Certificate of Excellence at the 39th WorldSkills Competition that was held in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, inNovember 2007./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
