Vietnam wins 7 medallions of excellence at WorldSkill contest

A 13-strong Vietnamese team brought home seven medallions of excellence at the 41 st WorldSkills Competition 2011 held in London from October 5-8.
A 13-strong Vietnamese team brought home seven medallions of excellenceat the 41 st WorldSkills Competition 2011 held in London fromOctober 5-8.

With this result, Vietnam ranked23 among 48 participating countries and territories, said Duong Duc Lan,Deputy Director of the Vocational Training General Department under theMinistry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

He added that the medallion of excellence is granted to those who score above 500 points out of maximum 600 points.

The average point of Vietnamese competitors war approximate 500, ascompared to the leading the Republic of Korea delegation with anaverage point of 530, and second-place China , with 524 points.

The WorldSkills London 2011 attracted over 1,000 competitors agedbetween 17-22 from all over the world to show off their prowess in 46professionals ranging from bricklaying and cooking to web and graphicdesign. The Vietnamese team competed in 12 professionals at the event.

Vietnam took part in the WorldSkills Competition in Japan in 2007 and in Canada in 2009./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
