Vietnam to build vessels for research on marine environment

The Prime Minister has approved a proposal on holding a limited tender to choose a factory to build research ships to explore the marine environment and its resources.

The tender will be held among ship building factories of the Ship-Building Industry Corporation.

ThePM also agreed to extend the disbursement period for the project’spre-payment of 200 billion VND (9.5 million USD) until the end of 2015.

The PM requested the Ministry of Natural Resources andEnvironment (MONRE) cooperate with the Ministry of Planning andInvestment, and the Ministry of Finance to allocate the funds. He alsoasked MONRE to approach the investor in order to speed up progress ofthe project.

The PM approved the project in 2014 and initiallyagreed upon an advance of 200 billion VND (9.5 million USD) to implementthe project by late June 2015.

According to a MONRE report, thevessels will be completed in 2015-2016, while the research equipmentwill be installed in 2017-2018.-VNA

As a key member of the core group of 18 countries, initiated by Vanuatu, Vietnam engaged in advocating for the UN General Assembly’s Resolution N.77/276, requesting for the ICJ’s advisory opinion. Following the resolution's adoption, Vietnam fully participated in all procedural steps for the first time, from submitting written proposals to presenting directly at the court’s hearings.

Hanoi to roll out policies s🐷upporting green transport transition

Under the plan, from 2025 to 2026, the city will complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in switching to green vehicles, expand the electric and green-energy bus network, and build charging stations. The targeted proportion of green buses is set at 10% in 2025 and 20–23% in 2026.
