Vietnam, Thailand jointly fight human trafficking

Bangkok (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassadorto Thailand Phan Chi Thanh held a working session with Thai Minister of SocialDevelopment and Human Security Chuti Krairiksh in Bangkok on July 12 to promotebilateral cooperation in combating human trafficking and share experience insocial welfare development.

Hailing Vietnam as one of the important member states that hasmade active contributions to cooperation mechanisms at ASEAN, Chuti wished thatVietnam and Thailand would enhance bilateral coordination as well as at othermultilateral mechanisms.

He proposed that the Vietnamese Embassy work closely withthe Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to launch certainactivities of the "Ambassador of Goodwill" project regarding socialissues.

The minister suggested the establishment of a support groupinvolving relevant units from the Thai Ministry of Social Development and HumanSecurity and the Vietnamese Embassy to address fraud, human trafficking, andillegal immigration issues in preparation for the forthcoming deputy ministerial-levelmeeting on cooperation in combating human trafficking scheduled to take placein Vietnam in this September.

Ambassador Thanh, for his part, thanked the Government, ministriesand police of Thailand for their assistance to Vietnamese victims who weredeceived into working at online scam centres in Thailand with the intention ofbeing transported to a third country.

He also agreed with Chuti’s proposal regarding the"Ambassador of Goodwill" project to foster exchanges between younggenerations of both countries.

TheVietnamese Embassy is ready to work withꦓ the Thai ministry’s departments andagencies to addresscases of fraud and human traffickinဣg to Thailand, he said./.
