Vietnam, Tanzania enhance traditional friendship, collaboration

Hanoi (VNA) – A high-level delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Politburo member, Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and Chairman of its Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac paid a working visit to Tanzania from September 22-26.

At his meetings with leaders of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM - Party of the Revolution), the government, the National Assembly, and agencies involved in anti-corruption and justice in Tanzania, Trac, who is also Standing Vice Chairman of the Central Steering Committee for Corruption and Negative Phenomena Prevention and Control and Standing Vice Chairman of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State highly value Tanzania's position and role in Africa and the world.

He congratulated Tanzania on its achievements under the CCM's leadership in socio-economic development, improving public service quality, attracting foreign investment, enhancing international position, and contributing positively to regional and global development.

Vietnam always treasures its solidarity, traditional friendship, and cooperation with Tanzania, defining it as one of the priority countries in Africa for enhancing political-diplomatic relations and economic cooperation. He affirmed Vietnam's desire to welcome the President of Tanzania and Chairperson of the CCM for Vietnam visit to seek ways to deepen the relations and expand bilateral cooperation.

The official also proposed Tanzania create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses and citizens to live and operate in the country.

Welcoming the CPV delegation, Deputy Prime Minister Doto Mashaka Biteko praised Vietnam's development achievements, and agreed with the proposed measures to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, such as continuing to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, establishing a diplomatic mission in Hanoi, and coordinating in organising activities in celebration of the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2025. He emphasised the need to expand new areas of cooperation, including education and training, information technology, digital transformation, and telecommunications infrastructure development; and maintain mutual support at multilateral forums and strengthen cooperation within the South-South cooperation framework and trilateral models.

CCM Deputy Secretary-General John Mongella stated that the fine development of the relations between the two countries, and between the CPV and the CCM has contributed to the development of Tanzania. He agreed on measures to strengthen the close relationship between the two Parties, including enhancing the exchange of information, theory, and experiences in Party building and personnel training, and encouraging the development of relationships between political and social organisations of both Parties.

At a meeting with Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mussa Azzan Zungu, the two sides agreed to step up delegation exchanges between the two parliaments, strengthen consultations and share experiences in law-making. Further, they agreed to cooperate on the response to traditional and non-traditional security challenges, and maintain close coordination and mutual support at regional and international inter-parliamentary mechanisms.

𒆙 At working sessions with Deputy Director General of the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) Neema Mwakalyelye, and Chief Court Administrator of the Judiciary of Tanzania Elisante Ole Gabriel, the two sides shared experiences in judicial reform, and corruption prevention and control to better serve the implementation of socio-economic development and defence and security assurance tasks./.
