Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam sets a target of having 60-62 percent of itslabourers trained by the end of 2019, of whom 24-25 percent will be grantedcertificates.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) said it willcoordinate with other sectors and localities to support job generation forabout 100,000 workers through loans from the National Employment Fund.

The ministry will focus on improving vocational education quality and providingemployment consultancy for around 2 million people. It will work to send morethan 100,000 labourers abroad this year.

According to the MOLISA, in 2018, the country created jobs for nearly 1.65million workers, surpassing the yearly plan by 3 percent. Of them, over 1.5million obtained jobs at home while the remaining were sent to work abroad.

The rate of trained workers hit 58 percent and the unemployment rate in urbanareas was kept under 4 percent.

2019 is considered a promising year for Vietnam’s labour export with a seriesof potential markets with good jobs and salaries are opening door forVietnamese workers overseas.

Japan continues to be a favourite destination for many Vietnameseworkers, according to the MOLISA’s Overseas Worker Management Department.

The number of Vietnamese workers going to Japan to work this year is expectedto increase strongly after the Japan’s Cabinet last month approved animmigration bill to introduce 345,000 blue-collar foreign workers in the nextfive years. The bill, which will take effect from April 2019, opens more jobopportunities for Vietnamese workers.-VNA
