Vietnam still ranks at 136th place in FIFA ranking

The men’s national football team of Vietnam remains at 136th place in the FIFA ranking in March 2017, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

Hanoi (VNA) – The men’s national football team ofVietnam remains at 136th place in the FIFA ranking in March 2017, according tothe Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

The team did not compete in any important matchsince the beginning of this year so its position keeps unchanged, said the VFF.

The Vietnamese team ranks 22nd in Asia and 3rdin Southeast Asia, following the Philippines (No. 124 in the FIFA ranking) andThailand (No. 127).

Other teams in Southeast Asian, namely Malaysia,Singapore, Indonesia and Myanmar, stand at 161st, 163rd, 167th and 172nd placesin the FIFA ranking, respectively.

In Asia, Iran is still the strongest team,followed by the Republic of Korea, Japan and Australia.

The world’s top 10 positions are also unchangedwith Argentina, Brazil, Germany and Chile taking the highest places.

The national team of Vietnam will gather onMarch 20 to prepare for a friendly match with Chinese Taipei. Later, it willplay in the qualifying round of Asian Cup 2019, in which Vietnam is in Group Calongside Jordan, Afghanistan and Cambodia.

The results of these matches will affect theteam’s position in the FIFA ranking in April, the VFF said.-VNA
