This is the 5th consecutive year the labour exporthas exceeded 100,000 persons per year, and the number of Vietnamese working overseashave increased through years.
In 2018, Japan, for the first time, surpassed Taiwan (China) to become thecountry receiving the most Vietnamese workers with more than 67,000.
Taiwan ranked second, receiving 65,000 Vietnamese labourers,followed by the Republic of Korea (RoK) with over 6,000.
According to the Vietnam Labour Export Association,there were 28 markets receiving Vietnamese workers in 2018, and only six ofthem received from 1,000 workers upwards, including Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, theRoK, Romania and Saudi Arabia. Those working in Taiwan andJapan account for more than 90 percent of the total.
Major Vietnamese worker receivers are mainly in the Northeast Asian region.

Vietnam sent 134,751 workers to foreign countries in 2017, up 28.3 percent as compared to the yearly plan and 6.7 percent from 2016, according to the Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
The number of Vietnamese people sent to work overseas amounted to 102,127 between January and September, representing 92.64 percent of the yearly target.
