Hanoi (VNA) -ꦚ Many studies worldwide have confirmed that participating in group exercises significantly reduces anxiety, depression, and stress, heard the Vietnam community nutrition day event, which took place in the capital city on July 2.

Nutrition practice in groups has a significant impact on individual health due to its consistency in time, motivation, and inspiration. Community nutrition practice – not only about physical exercise but also a positive and widespread trend worldwide – is gaining strong momentum in Vietnam. The organisers mentioned that many studies worldwide have confirmed that joining group exercises help reduce anxiety, depression, and stress. Group workouts with individuals having similar fitness levels create higher levels of motivation and determination. Being part of such teams enhances self-discipline, prevents discouragement, and provides more enriching experiences. The spirit of community physical activity and community nutrition has also been recognised, agreed upon, and highly valued by Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan.
Citing the proverb, 'If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together,' the deputy minister hoped the spirit be effectively applied to the movement of practicing nutrition and engaging in physical activities together, supporting and inspiring each other, and embracing a more dynamic and healthy lifestyle.

In his remarks at the event, Deputy Minister Thuan presented the three viewpoints of the Government in the national nutrition strategy for 2021 - 2030 with a vision to 2045. These are ensuring equal access to nutrition and food for all citizens to achieve optimal nutritional status and improve health. Maintaining proper nutrition throughout life to enhance personal and family health does contribute to the improvement of public healthcare quality. He also recognised the responsibility of the state in building mechanisms and policies to promote proper nutrition. Furthermore, functional agencies need to regulate and allocate resources to improve nutrition for mothers and children in certain difficult regions, remote, ethnic minority, mountainous areas, and islands. Therefore, the Ministry of Health hopes that through media events, every individual and group sharing an interest in physical activities and nutrition will feel their responsibility in applying the spirit effectively to the movement of community nutrition and physical practice.
Tran Tuan Linh, Editor-In-Chief of the Suc Khoe and Doi Song (Health and Life) newspaper and the head of the event organising board, stated that the Vietnam community nutrition day is organised with a view to enhancing awareness of the role of nutrition in Vietnamese people’s physical and intellectual development. Additionally, it aims to increase knowledge of proper, age-specific nutrition to improve the health of family members, create a healthy community, and promote the role of community nutrition models.

In addition, the event also included nutrition knowledge and physical activity with 20 teams competing on nutrition knowledge, sports performance and exercise such as aerobics, Zumba and gymnastics to promote healthy active lifestyles.
This event also served as a curtain raiser of the newspaper’s "I'm Healthier 2" competition scheduled to take place later this year./.
